The Gospel Training Trust is responsible for a number of annual events aimed to equip God’s people for faithful gospel ministry within their local churches.

Here are the dates and websites for our 2018/9 events together with information on the Tim Training Course.

Tim Training Course – www.timtrainingcourse.org

The TIM Training Course is a 1 day a week course (Mondays) running over 2 years. Tim is designed to prepare men and women in New Zealand to handle the Word of God rightly, and to preach and teach it in a variety of contexts. We seek to accomplish this by providing instruction in key areas such as: principles of preaching and exposition, Bible overview, overviews of select biblical books, overview of doctrine, overview of church history and ethics. One of the key features of the course is the opportunity each student has to prepare Bible talks from assigned passages of Scripture each term and receive feedback from the instructor and their classmates.

Equip Conference NZ – http://www.equipconference.org.nz

These conferences are an inspiring and challenging week of bible teaching and group workshops that aim to provide people of all ages with tools to both understand and teach the bible.

The conferences gather Christians from all over NZ, to sing God’s praises and listen to God’s Word. With support and feedback from pastors and Bible teachers from around the country, delegates gather in small groups and receive tools to help them understand any part of the Bible, and to teach it to others. Afternoon seminars cover a variety of ministry topics such as personal holiness, youth and children’s ministry, evangelism, discipleship and more.

For 2019 we are excited to have Paul Dale (Minister of Church by the Bridge, Sydney), joining us to teach from the book of James.

Come yourself – and bring any in your church who can come!

Registrations will be opening later in the year for both conferences, keep an eye on the website for updates.

Saturday 22 September 2018
Speaker – Jenny Salt – Dean of Students Sydney Missionary Bible College & Lecturer – Pastoral Care

The Preachers Conference – www.preachers.nz

This an annual conference is for active ministers who are regularly engaged in Word ministry.  We also welcome those training for a preaching ministry, and others in full-time Bible teaching roles.

John Stott said: “To preach is to open up the inspired text with such faithfulness and sensitivity that God’s voice is heard and God’s people obey him.”  This is the pattern of preaching ministry we are aiming to promote. Accordingly, our goal in the conference is to teach the Bible to teachers in order that they in turn can teach it to others.

Our hope is that through the conference pastor-teachers will be refreshed spiritually, stimulated theologically, engaged pastorally, and encouraged in the great task of preaching the unsearchable riches of Christ from the living and enduring word of God, the Bible.

The core components of the conference are:

  • biblical expositions to feed the mind and fire the heart,
  • preaching workshops to help sharpen ourselves as ‘approved workers’ of the Word,
  • and addresses on key issues facing preachers today.

There is also the benefit of the informal conversations with fellow gospel workers similarly committed to the demanding task of being faith preachers.

Tuesday 11 September to Thursday 13 September 2018
Held at Hastings Baptist Church.
Speaker – Peter Adam
